Search Engine Optimization does not mean increase in website traffic. You should only hire Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts when you have completed a through understanding of what keywords you want to deliver and drive your sales volumes.

This is how you do the math:

Business is slow during winter months "Bullshit" - Lots of leads & sales via web

I hear from many customers (typically 1st time Internet lead generation clients) --- I don't want to spend money to leverage SEO service or Google AdWords, i.e. marketing dollar during the winter months because of the holidays and we typically don't see a return on our marketing dollars.

This statement is "so true" because these B2B and B2C customers are trained to leverage traditional forms of marketing, i.e. Print Media (Postcards, Door Hangers, News Paper, Magazine, Coupon Discount Flyers, etc.) and Broadcast Media (TV & Radio).

The difference between old media or traditional media marketing vs. new media or Internet / Mobile media marketing are significant. Traditional media is designed to shake the trees and create a desire for the product or service. While Internet media gives the power to the consumer and he/she searches for what they need NOW --- immediately.

In my opinion its much better to get the lead from a consumer looking for exactly what you are selling, right now, than to drum up desires of potentially making a customer want your products or services. When I am looking for stuff on Google, Yahoo & MSN search --- its because I need the information or want the product now or within a very short-time. Additionally, I typically find what i am looking for within page 1 or 2 of my search or i change the keywords to see it will land me better results.

What is broadcast media --- News Paper, Magazine (all Print), TV (cable, local, national), Radio.
What is Internet Media (new media) --- Everything on the web meaning: Search Engine Optimization, Website Design, Social Media, Blogs, Video Distribution, RSS Feeds, Press Release, and so on.

The confusion is just starting to blend in marketing because TV, Radio is starting to converge with Internet and mobile. You see broadcast media is design to deliver a message and the advertiser is in control of delivering this message when the consumer is watching this medium. Can you get me on Page 1 of Google then I will pay you for SEO service

Yesterday I visited with a potential client for the 2nd time. They spend $8K for marketing all year and mostly focus on Air Conditioning & Heating Services. So clearly they are struggling with the decision to buy another service like Search Engine Marketing (SEM) / Search Engine Optimization (SEO) @ a monthly rate of $499.99 for local.

So, I told them to try our services and pay us when we get them to page 1 of Google -- for 5 keywords. Further more, their website needs complete re-work and its burning them up that its not completed well. I told them we would do the design and content port and we will do it on site, locally so that they can see what's going on. To make things even better --- we told them they do not have to pay us unless they are delighted with the website design and SEO services.

I am not sure what else I can do to earn someone's business? There is ZERO risk and you would think this owner would jump on board...there is no catch and its all performance based agreement.
