When to use PPC vs. SEO?

VERTX Sales Engine Optimization is the art of website design with Search Engine Marketing (PPC) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The crazy thing is SEO companies are springing up all over the place. 1 man shops to teams of so called experts.

The challenge with PPC is that anyone with a desire to build a business can within hours setup a website and spend money on Google AdWords and start to attract business. The issue is there is no sure thing with PPC --- so one could blow all of the budget and get nothing in return. I guess this is true for all types of advertisement. I have spent tones of money on radio ads, print ads and call center reps --- only to figure out that the campaigns will not work. Therefore, PPC --- AdWords can give you results but with so much competition --- its hard for even a company like ours to justify spending more than a small budget on it.

The key is to leverage the Google AdWords --- even if its a small amount of money because at the end of the day, this process does work. Like with all things, patients, skills, focus and drive wins the day --- so we need to optimize our site so that it will rank well and deliver sales.

We are ranked ---"Sales Engine" page 1. However, our team has to work double time to get all of the other keywords I gave them to get us on page 1.

You know you can hire the right guys when we put our own resource in SEO to work for our site.

How to Sell Products Online

How To Sell A Product Online. 3 Steps To Get Started.

Online businesses continue to grow. Every day, new merchant start-ups are added to the World Wide Web and successful businesses expand. The internet has literally changed the face of doing business. If you’re interested in joining the ranks of individuals who are making money online, here are the three basic steps you’ll need to take to get started.

Step. 1. Choose your product. In the world of online sales, there are a number of options for you to choose from.

Sell a product. If you’ve ever been interested in retail but are not interested in opening up a brick and mortar type store this business is for you! You actually have two ways to go when you sell products you can sell products that you’ve made like candles, jewelry, Santa letters, costumes, pet treats etc., you can find companies that dropship, or you can become a direct sales consultant.

Direct sales consultants are essentially independent sales people for other companies. They’re self employed and generally market their business online and via home based parties. Common direct sales companies include Avon, Shacklee, and Discovery Toys. These are only a few of the hundreds of direct sales opportunities available

Dropshipping means the manufacturer or wholesaler will ship the product directly to your customers upon ordering. Again, the sky is the limit here, you can find just about any type of product you’re passionate about and start selling. For example, are you crazy about cooking, there are certainly wholesale companies that cater to the culinary industry.

Selling information. Information marketing is growing by leaps and bounds. It encompasses selling books, online courses, audio books or courses – anything that can be downloaded online can be sold. You can build an information marketing empire around your specific and unique knowledge or a topic that you are interested in. If the idea of creating your own information products is not to your liking, consider purchasing resale rights to books that other people have written or find a ghostwriter to have your products written for you.

Information website. The last type of business that you can open is an information based website. You can develop an entire website devoted to your specialized knowledge or area of interest. Information websites make money selling advertising space and promoting affiliate products. . You can also make good money as an affiliate marketer. This means that if your passion is helping people cope with food allergies and you have favorite food products, cookbooks, and information on the subject you can partner with the manufacturers of these companies to make a commission from any sales you send their way.

Step 2. Build your website. Building your website is a very important step. In fact it is critical. The good news is that it isn’t irreversible. If you choose a keyword that doesn’t sell, you can change your keywords. The first thing you will want to do, once you’ve determined what type of online business you’re going to open is determine your target audience. Here are a few questions to ask.

How old are they?

How much do they make?

Male or female?

Do they have children?

Are they married or single?

What are their problems as they relate to your product? For example if you’re selling patio furniture, what solutions are you providing?

How do they normally shop?

Where do they live?

The next step to building your website is to build a focused site. Using the patio furniture example above, a website could be devoted to patio furniture, teak patio furniture, wrought iron patio furniture, patio furniture care, patio furniture cushions, patio furniture accessories etc…The more focused your website, the easier it is to meet your customer’s needs and to make a profit. If you instead try to meet everyone’s needs then you’ll spread yourself too thin and not meet anyone’s needs. This is particularly important because the more you specialize and focus your site, the more you’ll be seen as an expert and the results will be profits.

The key to any successful website is to fill it with useful content. Content achieves many things including:

Driving traffic

Encouraging return traffic

Improving your search engine rankings

Offering benefits to your visitors

Selling your product

Establishing your credibility

Generating press

Marketing

The types of content you can create for your website is virtually boundless. You can create articles, reviews, blog postings, ebooks, videos, audios, tutorials, guidebooks, workbooks, online courses, case studies, reports, ezines, etc…

The key to your content and to driving traffic to your website is to optimize your pages. Optimization will include adding title tags and description tags to your web pages. It will also include incorporating your keywords into your online content. Search engine spiders search for this information. As they find it, they use it to establish where you rank when a person searches for your keywords, products, or services.

Step 3. Traffic. The best way to drive the profits of an online business is to drive traffic to your website. Driving traffic in web-speak means getting visitors to visit your website. Here are just a few of the ways you can drive traffic and build your business:

Content. Content as stated in step 2, is a critical element of your copy. One of the hurdles many business owners face is dealing with the time it takes to create copy. This can be overcome by hiring a writer to handle the task. However, it is generally beneficial to include your personal touch to your business and writing some, or all, of your own copy is an excellent way to accomplish this. Back to traffic…how does content increase your traffic? The simplest answer is that the search engines really like to see content on your sites and the more frequently you update your site and add content, the better your search engine ranking will be. As your search engine ranking increases, so too will your visibility and the number of visitors. If you offer quality content, new visitors will become loyal visitors and customers.

Advertising. Pay per click campaigns are a good way to drive targeted traffic to your website. However, online you can also advertise in ezines, blogs, and other people’s websites. Offline you can advertise in your yellow pages, flyers, chamber of commerce and more.

SEO. Search engine optimization has three basic elements: optimizing your web pages for keywords or keyword phrases, optimizing your content for keywords and keyword phrases and generating incoming links. There are of course several methods for each of these three elements. The main ingredients for all three are your keywords. Spend time generating, and testing, quality keywords and the rest will fall into place.

Networking, offline and online. Networking is worth its weight in gold. Meet and connect with the right person and your company’s profits could sky rocket. Networking can be accomplished online with networking groups, mastermind groups, forums, chat rooms and blogs. Offline, networking with your local business organizations and associations that are relevant to your business will prove invaluable.

Email and direct marketing campaigns. Marketing campaigns can be excellent tools to not only promote a product but to also promote awareness of your company’s products and drive traffic to your website.

There are many important steps along the way to selling products online and when you understand the steps involved, your job becomes a lot easier and your profits are only a few steps away.

Monitor Your Website Traffic - Search Engine Marketing

An online business website that depends on promotion and sales needs a good search engine marketing strategy to be successful and profitable. Generating targeted traffic to the website is the main function of a search engine marketing strategy. However, it has been observed that active traffic has seldom proved effective to the concerned websites.

A variety of different traffic building methods and techniques can be used to attract traffic to a particular website. One such widely used methods of search engine marketing that is used by online businesses to generate traffic is “pay per click”. Pay per click is an acceptable method used to attract traffic to your websites, however it is important to monitor it frequently to determine its efficacy in generating traffic that is beneficial to the project.

There are many businesses find paid campaigns prohibitively expensive and a drain on their already scarce resources. Such companies can opt for free campaigns that work on targeted marketing. SEO or search engine optimization is a free traffic generating campaign that is a part of search engine marketing. However, it too requires a lot of research and constant monitoring to produce the desired results. The keywords selected for SEO need to be relevant to the website concerned and also to the users queries. For search engine optimization to be effective in attracting traffic the websites should be listed in the first few pages.

Pay per click is more effective in pulling traffic as it lists websites on the first page of the SERP. The quality of the traffic pulled is also of a high order. The only reason why businesses don't use it is because it's too expensive. However there are ways to reduce the cost of PPC so that businesses do not overshoot the budget. One way is to minimize the cost is to use less popular keywords. Although they generate relatively less traffic it is sufficient to meet the requirements of the website in question. Another smart way is to bid on misspelled keywords. It does sound strange but the fact is that too many visitors make typos on search engines. This weakness of visitors can be used to your advantage and attract some more traffic to your website.

Installing link exchange system is also recommended. In this system you have non-competitive websites link to your websites. This way you generate more traffic to your website from partner websites. Having professionally written articles related to your business also helps, the articles pose problems to visitors and offer your company's name as a solution thereby increasing the traffic. Updating articles on a weekly basis makes your website rich with content encouraging visitors to come back again and again and also visitors are more likely to recommend your sites to their friends and associates, thus increasing the traffic to your website. Distributing your articles throughout the net helps as more and more people are aware of your company's product and thus increasing traffic to your website.

Only 3 – 6% of all the websites on the World Wide Web are correctly optimized, even though thousands of websites are launched by businesses and individuals every day. The only way to stay visible on the Internet is to have an effective SEO strategy.

Testing Your Internet Marketing Sites To Increase Conversions

Making money online isn't always easy. As a matter of fact, it can be almost impossible without a detailed knowledge of exactly what your visitors are interested in. What exactly draws their attention, keeps them on-site longer or makes them press that all important "Buy Now" button? When you know the answers to questions like these, you can start to modify your site content to match the needs and wants of its visitors. And as you can probably guess, tailoring your site to these needs will ultimately lead to more sales. This is a key fact in internet marketing.

So how does one go about figuring out what makes people stay longer, or decide to purchase? Test, tweak and repeat... forever. Honestly, testing is an endless process, but for now I just want to give an overview of the basics. I'm not endorsing any specific software, as there are many available. A simple Google search should have you busy for a while. What I will suggest is doing a little research, and making sure you find a program that allows you to track clicks, sales and actions. Using software that only tests clicks is very limited and leaves a lot to the imagination! Also be sure to use something that allows you to do split testing. This is critical. There are many advanced systems that allow testing of many changes at once, but for now I want to cover the "old standard"... A/B split test.

With a standard split test, you can continually improve your sales page performance and boost conversions to limits well above your competition. Okay, so you have your Sales Page up and running, and are pleased with your 2% conversion rate. A friend of your tells you he's pulling down a 4.5% conversion rate on his site, and you decide that a little friendly competition is in order. Doubling your conversion rate may seem like a fairly impossible task, but it is easier than you might imagine. And this is how it's done...

There are a few key elements in every sales letter, but the ones I most often change when split testing include: The Headline, The Benefits, Testimonials, The Bonuses and The Guarantee. So I would take my standard page and make an exact duplicate. The only difference being you need to change one of the above elements. Try a different headline, or use a different testimonial, but you can only change one single element at a time. Show the pages equal number of times and track which one gets more sales, or sign-ups if you have a lead capture form instead. Once you find the better performing page, delete the other one and rerun the test introducing a new page with another variation of the same element. Continue to do this until you can no longer achieve a better conversion rate. Now move on to the next element and start anew. This is a time consuming, but very rewarding process, and you'll likely be surprised by some of your results!

Take the time to do this properly, and you'll likely find that your conversion rate will surprise even you. It's important to let your market tell you what works for them, and this is how it's done; at least one way. The process can literally go on forever, but you can apply what you learn from each test to other areas of your business in the same market. You can become an expert in a fraction of the time, and your sales pages will be on fire! Work on your copywriting, improve the relevancy of the bonus you add, address more targeted questions or concerns your prospects may have and on and on. This will all lead to more sales, and more importantly... more customers!

Various Ways of Online Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing is hard work that takes a lot of time. This is also referred as costly matter. There are millions of websites on the internet that want to be on the first page of Google. The website that applies the right source comes ahead in this race of cut throat competition. The different available sources of online internet marketing are

1) Listing in eBay.

2) Listing in Google base. Google base is free.

3) There are some online sites that place free classified advertising. Some of these sites are: Classified Ads, The flyers website, Yahoo Classifieds, Myspace Classifieds, Craiglist ,Adlandpro, Backpage, Usfreeads, Oodle, Adpost, Freeadvertisingforum, Chooseyouritem, Domestic Sale, Epage, Freeadvertisingblog and Classifiedsforfree.

All such sites help you to place online classified advertisements and thus prove to be a good source of promoting your website.

4) Another source is Goclick Advertising for keyword targeting. Its minimum price starts form one cent per keyword. Google may have largest publishing network but they are also among the most expensive and competitive. There are sites that do not have Google ads but they publish other search results feeds. Goclick is one of such type and there are plenty of others. Any network can give you traffic but this depends on your website design that a user clicks on an ad and thus resulting in lead for your website.

5) Submit to Digg website is another option.

6) To consider online advertising method is a great way to reach more people and to target on those you want to reach. The main form of online advertising are PPC (Pay Per Click) and Banner advertising. PPC advertising is also a way to advertise free online. There are some popular websites that allow you to advertise on them free.

Why Search Engine Ranking is Like the NHS Waiting List

Ok, so the optimisation process was a raging success. You’re number one worldwide for Lem-Sip flavoured dinnerware. Return to your office and prepare for profit.

Don’t rush, it could be a long time coming.

Search engine ranking is a key performance indicator; it isn’t an outcome. It’s all too easy to forget what we’re actually aiming for and treat symptoms, not causes.

The NHS analysts put huge importance on reducing the number of people on their waiting lists. We hear news items placed by various governments (I’m being party-agnostic here!) that waiting list numbers have reduced by X% and nod sagely at a job well done. Until we hear that the figures are being massaged by admitting fewer people to the lists. Bizarrely, it doesn’t seem to occur to any of us that the number of people on the list doesn’t matter. It’s how long you’re waiting to be fixed that counts.

Our obsession with search engine position is distressingly similar. The key outcome is conversions, not where you appear in Google. Imagine searching for treasure on a Pirate Island. The more holes you dig, the more chance you have of finding the doubloons. But if you don’t know where to dig, or if you’re even on the right island, that’s an awful lot of sweating for not much of a result.

OK, So You Already Knew This

By now you’ve probably worked out that I’m talking about the relevancy of the key phrases for which you’re high in the search engines. You’re half right; that’s certainly an element, but it’s only a small part of the story.

We’ll come to the really important stuff in a moment. But before we do that let’s talk for a moment about this bit that you already know. You worked out ages ago that there’s no point being top for a search term that no one ever keys in.

Didn’t you?

I’m glad you did, because that means you’re not one of the thousands who are sucked in every day by scammers who "guarantee" you a top ten listing. Key phrase relevancy is hardly breaking news, but it’s still forgotten by a depressing number of people, who then become easy prey for the fast buck brigade.

Conversion is the Only Criterion

Let’s get back to basics. When you built that Website you had an aim in mind. In most cases filthy lucre figures strongly in the equation, but some Websites are aimed at imparting particular information or gathering responses. Whatever you want from the site, it’s fundamental to its success that you define the goal. Try writing that goal down. You should be able to express it in one sentence. If you find there are "ands" in there, you might need to define two or more separate goals.

· We want to sell items through the on-line shop

· We want to receive qualified enquiries from potential customers

· We want visitors to tell us their opinions

· We want visitors to request a brochure

· We want people to sign up for something

There are countless more possibilities, but the common factor here is that we’re looking for a definable, countable result. When a visitor takes one of these options we’ve converted them into something different; they’re no longer a stranger. Until they take that step they’re no help to us.

Now the good news. Conversion is far, far cheaper than traffic. Driving people to your site always costs, either in straight money or in time and effort, which ultimately are the same thing. But conversion can be boosted by relatively trivial tweaks to your Website. I came across a client recently who’s shopping cart completions increased by 40% when we moved his checkout button an inch higher on the screen.

Pay-Per-Click is a Great Optimisation Tool

It follows then that analysis of visitor behaviour is the key to improving conversion rates. We need to understand exactly what visitors are doing on the site. At this stage absolute numbers are of secondary importance. As long as we have enough click-throughs for a meaningful analysis we can make good decisions.

And here we come to the litmus test for key phrase relevancy. OK, we don’t want a phrase that no one searches for, but equally we don’t want phrases that don’t lead to conversion. Just as importantly don’t be persuaded to bid for terms that you cannot provide content for. Checking your bounce rates is essential to ensure you are not paying for traffic you don’t want and cannot hope to convert.

Finding out this information before starting a natural search engine optimisation program is critical, as it can prevent the campaign being built with the wrong focus. With pay per click it’s possible to try combinations of different phrases, landing pages, site content and navigation until you find the best result.

Once the site is working at full chat, responding to search terms that relate to your target audience, you have a sales conversion tool that will provide increased return from increased traffic. Now’s the time to go looking for those search engine positions!

Simple Isn’t the Same as Easy

This is all easy to say, but not necessarily that easy to put into action. Improving a site’s conversion rate comes from a blend of common sense, experience and good intuition. There are plenty of excellent analytical tools around – and Google’s own Analytics will tell you a great deal about your site without soaking up your server resources. But you need to invest time into relating all the separate pieces of data and working out what they’re telling you.

And sometimes you’ll be surprised at the hidden message. Many buy-on-line sites love to offer you additional purchase options as you progress through the shopping process: "People who bought the Anteater exercise wheel also bought the Diary of a Vegetarian Arc Welder". Why? Because filling stations sell chewing gum by placing it next to where you pay for your petrol.

But the Web doesn’t work the same way. Most buy-on-line sites work better when you reduce people’s options as they progress through the buying process.

To return to my opening statement, this is where the focus on search engine position fails you. Driving thousands of people to your Website will do nothing but cost you money until you’ve tuned the site for optimum conversion. Measure and optimise the results from the visitors you have first, and then you can turn your attention to increasing their numbers.

And, let’s face it; everybody needs Lem-Sip flavoured dinnerware.

Your Guide To Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing or SEM is a broad term that encompasses all efforts made to generate leads and achieve sales from the search engines. Search engine optimization, Pay per click Management, and Landing page optimization all come under the umbrella of Search Engine Marketing. The phrase Search engine Marketing is used in a variety of contexts, however, Pay per click Management is the most comprehensive types of search engine marketing service.

The ultimate goal of Search Engine Marketing is to promote websites on the World Wide Web by increasing their visibility on search engine (Google, yahoo, msn search) results pages. The Internet offers tremendous potential to market products and services and there are many who try to capitalize by using attention seeking banner advertisements and pop-ups. However, it is proved that this type of advertisement fails to attract people in fact people are more likely to have a negative impression of sites that have these pop-ups.

Search Engine Marketing is a genuine, effective and reputable marketing strategy for increasing online business. SEM has seen exponential growth in the past one year and it is estimated that more than 9.5 billion dollars were spent on Search Engine Marketing by advertisers in North America alone.

Search engines are indispensable to the Internet and help and guide people find what they are looking for on the Internet in the shortest possible time. Google leads the market with over 50% market share followed by Yahoo with a market share of 24%. It's no wonder that search engines have proved most effective in attracting targeted and quality traffic. It's common practice for Internet users to go to a search engine such as Google and look for the product or service they need. Businesses need to position their websites in such a way that search engines display their web address in results. SEM makes sure that only people looking for a product or service you specialize in see your advertisement. This means SEM directs targeted traffic to your website.

There are some search engine marketing companies that assure a certain number of hits to your web address. However, there is a price the client company has to pay per click. On the other hand, it is unethical to make such promises. It is difficult to guarantee top ranking to websites, but it is possible to guarantee top ranking on smaller search engines.

The best way to judge your search engine marketing is by results displayed. Leads, sales and customer phone calls are what reflect on the effectiveness of your search engine marketing strategy and not page hits or rankings.

It is recommended that businesses should focus on creating and managing good websites, having sponsored links via Adwords to achieve the desired results.

How to Make Money Online at Home

Internet spending is an all time high and set to break new records every year. With the advent of new markets and new opportunities today is the best time to make money online at home with affiliate programs. It's a fun job with no risks involved and you get to see fast results. All you have to do is to refer internet visitors to merchant web sites. In order to do this, you get free training, free web sites, SEO, professional sales copies and a creative department working for you 24/7!

Of course, you also need a few tips on the dos and don'ts of what makes a successful marketer. There are a few things that can help your business grow and also help you make the most of today's Internet spending craze. The most important thing of all is to know who your customers are. It may seem like a silly idea - you certainly want everybody to be your customer, but this won't happen too soon. You need to pick a viable niche in terms of both numbers and buying power.

Once you've found this niche you have to understand your customers. Are they emotional buyers, analytical buyers, "what's-in-it-for me" buyers or fact freaks? There are many types of customers in your niche and although sometimes the products you market can help you shape your business, this is not always the case and you should not rely on other people to give you hints.

Examples of customers would include:
- Emotional Buyers: first-time mothers looking for safety items for their babies.
- Analytical Buyers: people who need to know every detail of the product they intend to buy, like where it was manufactured, by what company, what kind of materials and technology it incorporates, etc. If you fail to provide the details they need, they will go look for someone who can do that.
- What's-in-it-for-me Buyers: the bargain hunters. They want to know what your product can do for them and you have to tell them all the facts as soon as they lay eyes on your web pages. They don't need anything extra, all they want is to be sure they are getting the best value for their money and, if possible, a discount.
- Fact Freaks: Obsessed with being sure your products are as good as you claim they are. You will need hard evidence to support every claim you make. Reviews by well known independent web sites are great and so are testimonials and independent tests with the results published in important magazines and newspapers.

The good affiliate programs will provide you with almost everything you could wish for. You'll have your free web site(s) personalized for you. You'll have access to tons of articles to use on the web sites. If you need an SEO expert, you'll get one in the blink of an eye. And although it's hard to believe, affiliate programs do offer a totally "no risk - fast results" opportunity to make money online working from home.

But nobody will do the job for you. And your only job is to know and understand your customers. This is the only important thing when it comes to marketing, be it online or offline.

Learn Online Marketing - A Sure Fire Way To Do Business At Home.

After this article concludes, you will have learned that most people do a 9-5 job because they have no other option. Given a chance, we would all like to be at home, do things the way we want, spend more time with our family, play our favorite sport or give shape to a hobby. Thanks to the Internet, we have in our hands a powerful weapon that can give us more time, more flexibility and yes, the freedom to do a successful business that we’ve always cherished. The key is online marketing. Online marketing involves promotion or marketing of a product or service online. There are many who work from home and do a fabulous job. They earn a lot of money and also save on their time, which would have gone into commuting and spending hours at work. However, online marketing is a fairly new concept which is spreading like wildfire. Still, there are some who are apprehensive of doing business online.

Let us look at some of the problems involved in online marketing and their solutions:

Problems:
1. I am not computer literate. This is not for me.
2. What if I am cheated?
3. I do not know how to do business online.
4. What if I lose my focus?

Solutions:
1. It is not necessary to be exceptionally good with computers. A basic knowledge of computers and usage of internet is enough. A trusted friend, a family member or the person you’re working with will gladly help you. However the best thing will be to invest in a computer course to learn the basics.

2. Trust reliable companies. Of course, there are a lot of companies that advertise 'get rich quick' schemes and 'fast money' programs. Stay away from those. Look for reputed companies that have excellent third party reviews or feedback online.

3. You can start a blog or a website of your own and apply for the Google AdSense code. You will get contextual advertisement on your website and if anyone clicks on the ad on your site, you will make money. Apart from Google, there are other online advertising companies also like Yahoo, MSN, MIVA, AdBrite, etc. You can also make money recommending the products and services of other people; the concept is called affiliate marketing. Some of the major affiliate advertising companies online are Clickbank, Commission Junction and Amazon. You can also be paid for reviewing a product, service or a website. There are various online research companies that pay you for doing online market research and surveys. You can also do Network Marketing, Direct Sales or MLM online.

4. Since you will be working alone with your computer at home, you may lose your focus if you are being disturbed by issues or problems with your family. Under such circumstances, you should make sure to allocate a certain amount of time only for your business. Keep your home office separate and away from distractions and noise. Finally have the belief that you will succeed and work towards realizing it.

Actions:
Strategies for Researching the Market
Do research and find some of the finest programs online that pay you well. I have mentioned some of them above. Researching your market is perhaps the easiest way to assess it. Market research does not have to be costly, nor does it have to be a complex process. It can be as simple and as easy as surveying a cross-section of your consumers (focus group) to get their opinions about the product or service you will be offering, or conducting a telephone or mail survey. The disadvantages of using the telephone or mail survey method are the individuals you contact may not be interested in responding to a survey. Other market research techniques include analyzing demographic data, such as population growth/decline rate; age range, sex, income/educational level; brainstorming with family and friends, focus group interviews. Whatever method you use, your focus should be on gathering enough information to determine who your potential customers are - their needs, wants and expectations; if there is a demand for your product or service; who your competitors are and how well they are doing.

Market research is an invaluable tool that can save you time, effort and money. You should start your online business and make sure to keep a persistent, consistent, focus in your approach and the results will follow. One of the best things about using Online Marketing to make money is that you won't be stuck in the 9-5 grind. You can say goodbye to long commutes and moody bosses and co-workers. You will decide when, where, and how long to work. Best of all, as a home-based business owner, you'll decide the size of your paycheck.

How To Manage Search Engine Marketing Campaigns

Managing websites is not merely optimizing the right terms in natural and pay per click searches but ensuring that the two work together. A common misconception is that there are tricks one can use in search engine marketing. In reality, there is no such thing as tricks in search engine marketing, which is in fact very similar to marketing in general. More often it is about getting the word about your products and services out, keeping the site updated with fresh content and generally ensuring that visitors recommend the site to others.

It will help if you attempt to make your site social media compatible by offering relevant information and news on the latest developments in the niche you are present in. These tactics are great marketing tools that help you to market your site to targeted audience effectively.

Search engine optimization and Pay per click strategies should compliment each other and not contradict each other. You can ensure this by keeping a close watch on the terms that
convert to leads on pay per click and the terms that bring traffic naturally to your website. If your websites appear on the first page naturally and on paid listings, it gives you an opportunity to advertise an additional message to the user. This will also keep your paid search budget well within your control. If you notice that your natural ranking is consistently higher it means that your page is doing extremely well in Google's complex Quality Score algorithm. This will result in making your PPC bidding lower compared to others in the same position and control your marketing budget.

Search marketing also has some technical aspects similar to other types of marketing activities. The website should have rich and updated content that is unique. Make sure the server is configured correctly and indexed. Search marketing requires all the efforts that print marketers make to keep production costs down and increase efficiency. Spreading the word around is important in any marketing activity and search marketing is no exception to it, building links on friendly sites, blog, and other sites related to your sector is one way to do this. Your site becomes a talking point and helps your marketing effort.

Having done all the above it is important to measure the effectiveness of the marketing strategy. A Web analytics package such as Google Analytics, which is free, can help in this. Continuously monitor and track your PPC campaign, test ad groups and landing pages to see if they are targeting effectively. Keep updating the content on the site and get the word out.

Increasing site traffic is not the end you also need to track your conversion rates. If your website has gained an additional 500 hits a month you need to see how many of those additional 500 visitors actually got converted to being your customers.

Find ways to increase traffic and then find ways to increase the conversion rates to make your search engine marketing campaign a success.

Search Engine Optimization – 10 Useful Tips

Any company wanting their website to appear at its optimum point in the search engine rankings will need to utilise Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques. With an estimated 300 million searches being carried out worldwide, on a daily basis, the optimisation of your website is a key issue in reaping the rewards you and your company deserve. After all, your website is great, but clients need to find it! Some proven strategies will help:

Effective Keywords
The choice of effective keywords and phrases is vital in attaining the highest possible ranking. Equally, their placement on your information pages is critical. It is important to note that search engines give higher importance to certain words. Thorough research and consideration of this issue is crucial.

Site Maps
An effective site map is important in view of the fact that search engine spiders index all of your site pages.

High Quality Content
Content needs to be interesting, informative, relevant and up-to-date to ensure that your target viewers return to your site. This will also enable link building when other sites are impressed enough to want to link to you.

Easy to follow HTML Pages
It is vital that all your pages are accessible to search engines, which scrutinise the Internet looking for web pages to index and, in doing so, follow the links from one web page to the next. Long or short pages, or dynamic URL’s, can affect ranking. If your website does contain these a remedial plan needs to be devised. The use of Flash or JavaScript, together with image maps, frames and tables (try to use CSS positioning instead), should be used in moderation. Use header tags (H1 & H2) and bold text in your site pages.

Title/Metatag Descriptions
The effective use of titles and Metatags is significant for Search Engine Optimisation or Search Engine Optimization, although Google also uses over 100 different factors to determine ranking.

Ethical Marketing
The implementation of ethical search engine marketing protocols will deliver sustainable results, whereas spam techniques may be immediately effective but result in imminent blacklisting.

Quality Links
A high number of quality inbound links to your website is vital in determining website ranking. To enable this, your site needs to incorporate a page for linking to other relevant websites, thereby allowing you to engender link popularity through reciprocal and one way links. Remember, quality is as important as quantity!

Directory Submission
An important ranking strategy is to submit your website to the leading directories, such as Yahoo and Dmoz, together with many others, some of which are free.

Article Submission
The submission of quality, relevant and timely articles not only shows your expertise in specific fields, but encourages a steady flow of backlinks, thereby increasing traffic.

Search Engine Optimization As A Marketing Strategy

SEO or search engine optimization is one of the most commonly used methods to increase the volume and the quality of the traffic to a website. Using relevant content, internal linking, and incoming links from outside the website, potentially any search engine can index a website for terms your company finds important so your website will appear in the natural search results of a search engine results page (SERP) and thus, is an important weapon for Internet marketing.

There are many criteria search engines use to rank websites, and not all search engines put the same weight on each criteria. Generally, the earlier the website’s domain has been active, the more likely that the page rank will be higher. Also, text links within the website using the keyword phrases you find important are also good tools to use. SEO can work in a number of different ways besides just showing up in search engine results. It can also be used to guide the writing and placement of your content, as search engines that find your content useful from their point of view has a better chance of being useful from the visitor’s point of view.

SEO can also stand for search engine optimizers, which refers to the people who work as consultants to perform search engine optimization. Search engine optimizers can work as a sole service provider as well as a part of a whole marketing team. SEO techniques can be a part of the designing and development of the website as sometimes, it may require some changes in the HTML codes of the website. Some of the basic components of SEO are web designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts, because these can be optimized easily.

Top ranking of a website in more than one search engines does not mean more sales for the websites. The technique only works in conjunction with clearly defined goals for what visitors will do when they come to the site. In other words, your website must have a clear call to action. Therefore, a business that is mainly depended on search engine traffic can suffer a lot if there is not an accompanying website designed to engage the visitors upon arrival. As a part of Internet marketing strategy, SEO increases a site's traffic so your message gets out there. Your job is to also makes sure you have a clear message when the visitors find you.

Steps To Creating An Internet Marketing Plan

The Internet marketing plan has to be a part of the overall marketing plan for the product. If you are planning an Internet marketing campaign you ought to keep a few things in mind. A good plan should include the objectives of the marketing plan, the target markets, the competitors, an on line business management technology etc. A properly planned Internet marketing plan will prove to be effective and profitable.

Define the customers: The most important part of the marketing plan is the customers. Define the target customers depending upon gender, employment, if they are entrepreneurs, students and so on. By undertaking a plan for the specific customers you may then go ahead and find venues to promote your site. There are sites that allow cross promotion of advertisements for visitors. You can have newsletters or small advertisements hosted on other sites and have a good idea of the conversion rate of the visitors towards your website. The monitoring of these conversion rates will quickly tell you if the advertisement has any effect or the strategy needs to be changed.

Budgeting: Once you have planned the marketing strategy you are aware of the costs involved. Make a budget for the Internet marketing plan. Put down on paper all the costs that are involved. You may find that you may have exceeded the amount that you had in mind. If as a part of strategy you have a pay-per-click option, ensure that you are budgeting for it as well as paying the amount regularly. A barter system on swapping newsletter advertisements on different sites can help reduce cost.

Advertisement content: Another important thing is the content of the website. When designing an advertisement ensure that it is eye catching, smart and specific about what you are selling. You may start off with a few free or inexpensive items on the main page and move on to the actual costlier items in further links. To link the people to your site, sell the benefits of the product or something that impresses the customer at an emotional level.

Monitoring: Regularly monitor the effect of the advertisements. You would get to know the trends better in the market in response to your advertisement. You may update the advertisement accordingly to reach out to more customers with a probability to convert them into buyers.

Competitors: You need to understand the competitors also to make a strong statement from your marketing campaign. You may study the URL's of your top few competitors. Also you may have a look at the traffic ranking of these and understand what they have to offer that makes the difference.

On line business management: Most important is to use technology that will help you sell on line like having a merchant account. Also initiate press releases, blogs, article submissions and rating for the site.

All these things can help make your Internet marketing plan a success and support the overall marketing plan.

Design Tips For Internet Marketers

It is common practice for Internet marketers to use free website graphics from templates or hire professional graphics designers to design their web pages. Even the lay out is from the templates or an imitation of some other web page. The logic behind this is that if it works for someone else it will work for me too. If this is your approach then you are leaving a lot of serious money on the table.

With these tips you will be able to modify those free web graphics and templates or be able to give clear-cut instructions to your designer that will dramatically boost your sales.
Left inclined text is preferred as it is easier to read than centered text. Also the human eye by default moves straight down the left margin to look for keywords. Hence it is pointless to center the headlines.

Have a strong forceful message in the left aligned headings and sub headings. The words should be emotive and positive. Words such as Secrets, Important, Free, Money on the left margin will catch the attention of the reader and motivate the reader to read further. A catchy headline will be something like this “Free money making manuals will never give you the secrets that you will learn from this presentation for less money than you would spend on a burger”. If these words are aligned to the left margin they will get more attention.

Images if any should line up next to the text at the left. This increases the impact the text has on the reader. If the header graphic stretches across the page then it distracts the viewer from the text.

Header graphics are not required for sales pages if you have one that does not distract the reader from the headline then its fine. Header graphics should not be attention grabbing with bright colors or pictures of people. It is a good idea to have the header graphic below the attention-seeking headline.

If your revenue model depends on advertisements and affiliate links, it is important that your header graphic does not distract the viewer from the advertisers images. However, this will not apply to content sites having text links or contextual advertisements. With content sites you need a strong headline as viewers will close the page if they only see text in plain paragraphs, viewers do not prefer text based advertisements, so in this case a strong header graphic will do the trick and boost the traffic on your web site.

If your sales page is about selling digital products then it is important that you have a professional looking cover. A professional looking e-book cover gives the impression that the product you are offering has a lot of value. E-books are generally judged by the cover. Covers can be professionally designed or you may pick a ready made design and customize it by changing the titles, color combination, or photos.

Positive calls to action have the desired effect. Commands such as “click here” have a positive effect on the viewers. Negative commands such as “don't leave this site” have an opposite effect on the viewers and viewers leave the site. “stop” is a much better command.

Getting Started With Internet Marketing

Getting started in Internet marketing does not need a lot of investment in terms of capital. A computer with a reasonable configuration, a high-speed broadband Internet connection, a blog, and lots of time and effort are all it really takes for you to get started. There are many individuals who started with these few things and within a span of two years are making more than a decent income for themselves.

The more time and effort you put the lesser time it takes you to achieve success. It may take you years to turn a profit if the amount of time spent is less than what is required. Apart from the time and effort you also need to focus on a niche and have a high level of understanding of the niche. If you have in depth knowledge and are aware of the recent developments in your niche area you will find it easier to fill a blog with content that is relevant and interesting. However, it is not difficult to develop a site on any new topic only some time and effort will be required by you to get accustomed to the new topic, as you gain knowledge and a certain degree of expertise you will find your comfort level rising.

Having identified your niche area and started a blog the next thing you need to do is to make it a money-spinning venture. So how do you monetize your blog? AdSense is the answer. AdSense has no minimum requirements for signing up and almost any one can sign up and open an account.

Two other options at your disposal are Chitika and Kontera, however Kontera requires a members site to have at least half a million hits a month. It might sound a bit daunting but getting half million hits is not as hard as it sounds if you have a niche that gets a lot of searches. If your niche generates only 200 searches in a month then you might never achieve the magical figure of 500000 hits a month. A niche that generates close to 200000 searches in a month will be sufficient to meet Kontera's requirement.

Affiliate programs is one way of generating additional income, so you need to sign up for an affiliate program. Affiliate programs sell products that your readers might find interesting. You will have to visit Commission Junction and sign up a few stores that give handsome payouts on sales effected from your site.

ClickBank is another way you can monetize your Website. ClickBank has thousands of e-books and software programs that you can promote on your blog site. ClickBank pays as high as 70% of purchase price as commission to affiliates. Carefully choose a few e-books and software programs you feel are worth recommending.

As your site becomes popular and starts getting more traffic and a higher page rank, more options to monetize your blog site become available to you. You will have the option to sell text links. There are individuals who are ready to upwards of $100 to get a text link on a web page that is ranked 7 or higher.

The option of promoting your own product is also available to you. Find out what people in your niche are looking for, by asking questions and opinions or conducting a small online survey. Then have the product made by someone else or you yourself create it. It is not necessary to have the product from your niche, it could be from any other niche e.g. a software program that enables coin collectors to organize their coin collection or an e-book for antique collectors that instructs them how to take care and restore their antiques.

The Internet is one place where any one with a little enterprise can make money. The only requirement is that you devote a lot of time and effort. Hard work and perseverance is rewarded and there are many people who are today earning thousands of dollars a month.

You might begin by making a few dollars initially with AdSense and slowly increase your earnings as your site gets more hits per month.

The key is to take the plunge now. Register a domain name, a hosting account, set up a blog and begin posting.

Internet Marketing: An Easy Work From Home Business Opportunity

Since internet usage exploded in the 1990's, internet marketing has become a marketing tool that every business takes advantage of. Businesses from the largest to the smallest use internet marketing to get the word out about their products and services. The reason for this is simply because you can reach the largest amount of your customer base on an international level at an extremely low cost. Most of the offline factors in running a business, such as sales people to contact customers, are non-existent in the online world. This is why virtually every company conducts business online, and why internet marketing is an easy decision for a work from home business opportunity.

There are many different strategies for marketing on the internet. Finding the avenue that is right for you and your business and then perfecting that method with give you better results than trying to implement every marketing method that you may learn, at once. Repetition with your online marketing efforts is based on the same concept as a repeating commercial on television or radio that you see so many times you know it from memory.

Brand recognition is very important, not every customer is going to buy from you on first sight, give them cause to remember you by constantly making sure your company is visible online. Once you have their attention you must provide the quality products and services your customers demand, from a website that is easy for your customers to use and navigate. Also remember that not every customer has a broadband connection, so an elaborate site loaded with large images may take too long to view. This will drive your customers away. Instead, keep your site simple and professional to reach a wider audience.

Once the website has been properly developed, internet marketing as a home based business can provide the business owner as well as the website owner some unique challenges. To many internet home business owners, internet marketing is a brand new field of study. If you are starting from scratch and are new to this advertising medium then success comes from education, application, and dedication.

The first step is to learn what methods are working when it comes to advertising online, both free and paid. It is recommended by many that a new internet home business owner concentrate on free marketing methods that will provide the business with some exposure while at the same time giving you a free education. The key is to take your time here because as the days, weeks, and months go by you should focus on learning more and then you will see better results because of it if you are consistent. Realize that the money will mostly be made once you've become proficient and not as you learn. Being impatient here will only serve to discourage you. Choose one of these methods and keep track of the results over time.

Experiment with one method for a few months and see what results it bears on your website traffic and sales. With free internet marketing methods results take longer to achieve and are based solely on the frequency of your efforts. Free internet marketing strategies also takes the risk of getting scammed out of the equation. There are those who would feed off of the impatience of new marketers by offering a quick fix to sales and traffic where there is none. Using free methods to promote your work at home business is also great market research for when you are ready to take your website to the next level with legitimate paid internet marketing methods such as pay per click advertising or paid directory submission.

There are tons of internet entrepreneurs that make a good profit without using marketing they have to pay for such as article marketing, they also benefit from the accomplishment of learning a new skill and knowing that they can easily duplicate their success for themselves and for others. Once you have become an experienced internet marketer you can outsource your expertise for hire to other business owners who will need exposure for their own work at home business opportunity.

Internet Marketing: The Modern Face of Business Promotions

"It used to be that when a business wanted to market itself, it would take out an ad in the newspaper, sponsor a glitzy event or have one of its employees walk around the city wearing huge placards with the business name on it. But then the Internet happened, and, with the emergence of “21st-century advertising agencies” (e.g. search engine marketing company web site development firm), marketing was transformed forever.

While the “old school” business promotions are still widely used, businesses now also pour serious money into marketing methods that use the Internet and specifically targets web users. Forrester Research for example, estimated that corporations spent about $6 billion in 2005 on e-mail marketing alone. Broadcast Corporation Fox on the other hand, started streaming behind-the-scenes footages of one of its shows online and promoted the “webisodes” entirely on the Internet. Aside from e-mail marketing and video streaming, other Internet marketing methods include Pay Per Click advertising, search engine optimization, interactive advertising and blogging.

Why the popularity of these high-tech marketing methods?

For one thing, the Internet is the fastest growing means of communication and entertainment in the world. According to statistics, as of March 2007, 1,114,274,426 people are online-- reaching even a fraction of this people means big gains for any business.

Another reason why Internet marketing is fast gaining popularity is the fact the promoting online is a lot more cost-effective than traditional advertising methods. While TV ads costs thousands of dollars and lasts only for a few seconds, developing a web site, which will serve as your business’ 24-hour advertisement, costs about $300. Search engine optimization and Pay Per Click ads, methods used to increase your business’ visibility and conversion, are also popular Internet marketing methods not only because they are effective, but also because SEO packages from reputable search engine optimization specialists can cost as little as $100.

Online marketing’s popularity is also attributed to the fact that they are much easier to track. When you run a Pay Per Click ad for example, you’ll get detailed reports of how many times the ad appeared, the number of people who clicked on it and the cost of each click. This means that you’ll be able to easily evaluate if the ads are benefiting your business.

Thinking about running a marketing campaign for your business? In this modern world, Internet marketing is your best bet.

Content Relevance -- does it matter?

The best way to think about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and ranking is to think about the way we would hire someone. I am sure as manager of most businesses we had to hire and fire staff at some point in our career. Take a moment to reflect on how you go about selecting the right candidate for the job?

Do you simply look at someones resume and experience and hire them? Likely not! Most hiring managers select a small set of results from a stack of resumes. We look at the experience from the resume before making a decision to invite a handful of candidates to come meet with us.

During the interview process we are checking out experience, feel for how they might work in organization and if there is chemistry or feel for the right fit or should I say "is the candidate reflecting the correct content relevance?"

Typically, if the personality and experience fit the job description and the references check out --- as hiring managers, we extend a job offer to hire the candidate.

Search Engine Optimization is very similar and ranking on Google, Yahoo & Bing works in a similar manner. Search engines over years has designed complex yet effective algorithms to figure out if the website content is relevant to the person entering the search keywords and in what order of preference (relevance) should different websites be presented to the consumer.

Sales Engine Optimization is designed to figure out for our clients what keywords and how to write the content in the website so that the content is relevant to search engines. We design sites with maximum opportunities to get them ranked on page 1 of Google, Yahoo & MSN quickly and consistently because if you are not found on search page 1 --- frankly speaking your business does not exist on the web.

There are many things we take into consideration to include in the content --- we research keywords, figure out how to write the content and how to place content in Header tags, Meta tags, and layer the information through out the website for maximum organic search rankings.

Yes, "Content Relevance" is critical part of Sale Engine Optimization (SEO).

The Sales Boost Campaign

After several weeks of deliberation I have finally come to the conclusion that we need to move forward aggressively with "The Boost" campaign. This is an exciting campaign where we should be able to promote and differentiate our capabilities from many other Search Engine Optimization service providers.

Over the next few months we will work on posting a significant amount of content regarding our marketing and promotions of the SEO services using "The Boost" campaign.

Here is a sample of what will be coming --- at the minimum it will be entertaining...

Results is what we are after and we should be able to demonstrate both our performance on the web and our clients.

Do you know how many leads you need?

It amazes me that so many customers of ours when we engage them, they have no clue on how much sales they need to generate. This is often surprising because most Companies can not support unlimited customer acquisition.

Example: a resturant can only seat so many people at a time and hope for a good turn-over rate so that they can turn the tables fast enough during rush hours.

Example: HVAC service company can only support so much business in a day before they are maxed out.

In any case, this is a very important thought prior to deciding how to go about marketing and where to spend the money. Lets say a flooring company needs to generate 10 more sales per month --- does not matter what that might be.

We have to work backwards from this number, we need to then figure out what the historical close ratio for this business is. Lets say its 50% -- that means we need to generate a minimum of 20 leads per month to get 10 sales.

However, we know that if the lead does not walk through the showroom, then the lead will not materalize. So, based on further analysis, its clear we need to get almost 100 leads where only 20 will walk through the showroom and 10 will lead to sales.

Now we are getting closer to figuring out what needs to be done. So we can explore Google AdWords or other Search Engine Marketing (SEM) options but we find out that the Client has a real issue with marketing budget and they need a flat budget but yet continue to see at least 10 sales per month.

This is when we go to work, we figure out from researching the keywords. Which keywords will take the least amount of time to rank on Google, Yahoo & MSN on page 1 and allow us to maintain these keywords ranking on page 1. Why because at least 10% of the traffic for the selected keywords are clicks and we figure out the click through rate to leads to make sure our Clients get the maximum leads, sales and profits from our efforts.

When all of this work is done RIGHT, then the Client is happy and often wants to add more keywords. The best part about SEO services is the marketing costs stay flat and when the keywords are ranked on page 1 of Google, Yahoo and MSN -- staying on top bring in leads and sales for our Clients month-after-month.
